Herne & Broomfield Lib Dems have expressed strong objection to Canterbury's decision to impede construction of a BMX track for Broomfield. The budget involved was £ 6 500 out of a reserved budget of £ 500k.
Local councillor Ian Wright reminds the City Council that current policy is for Broomfield to be a priority area for making play facilities available for local youngsters. While there may be ways of accessing other funding to support the project (e.g. a lottery bid), we know how long these things take to process and how unpredictable they are.
So - an opportunity lost, and no new facility for Broomfield youngsters next year. We hope Herne & Broomfield voters will remember the Conservative Council's unresponsiveness to local needs.
