An engineer shows margaret the new high tech cameras
Local Herne Bay Councillor Margaret Flaherty is working on plans to sort out local traffic problems in and around Herne Bay.
"With the old and new Thanet Ways disgorging traffic into the town at peak periods we really need to come up with a plan to relieve the traffic hot spots" says Cllr Flaherty. "We also need to take urgent action to protect the centre of Herne village - which is an accident waiting to happen!"
"Recently I met and had discussions with the team that are using the latest technology to carry out detailed traffic counts on all of the major roads into Herne Bay to see at first hand where and why the problems are occurring. Cameras have been installed to monitor the traffic at peak periods. My only worry is that the vital works which this current survey outline the need for will end up, as usual, taking a back-burner while Conservative-run Kent County Council spend our council tax on daft projects like their one and a half million pound investment in their own vanity TV channel (Kent TV) and their numerous and well-publicised 'fact-finding' jollies to the United States."
