Baroness Ros Scott, recently elected President of the National Liberal Democrat Party is visiting North Thanet on 22nd January 2009.
North Thanet voters substantially increased their support for the Liberal Democrats in the 2005 General Election and it is expected to be a strategic target for the next General Election.
Mark Barnard, former Parliamentary Candidate and Parliamentary Spokesman for North Thanet commented:
"The visit by Ros Scott indicates the value the Liberal Democrats place in the people of North Thanet."
"In the 2005 General Election residents were clearly stating that they were weary of the 'same old' representation and that it was time for a change. I am confident that at the next general election, whenever it is called residents will want to vote for the Liberal Democrat Party - the party of vision and energy, with practical ideas that will give hope to people struggling to make ends meet. The Liberal Democrats are the Party with fully costed policies to improve the quality of life for people through education, health and taxation."
Baroness Scott will be visiting Herne Bay where she will give address a meeting of the local Lib Dem Councillors before going on to meet members in nearby Birchington-on Sea. She will also visit Margate to see the problems that residents are facing with the demise of its shopping areas and visit the site for the Turner Contemporary Gallery. She will visit Westwood Cross to see the traffic problems then onto Manston Airport and the site for the China Gateway.
