Local Liberal Democrat Councillors and activists have taken the concerns of the Thanet area to the highest level.
Baroness Ros Scott, the recently elected President of the Liberal Democrats took time out of her busy schedule to visit North Thanet and to see the issues faced by residents first hand. Baroness Scott was accompanied on her tour of the area by Mark Barnard the former Parliamentary candidate for North Thanet.
Speaking to members of the Birchington Branch of the Liberal Democrats Baroness Scott said,
"It's been a real pleasure to visit the Thanet area and to meet with local Lib Dem activists who are in good heart and ready for the elections ahead.
"The visits to see the issues in the area have been fascinating and have shown how local action and global issues are completely linked.
"Whether it's the management of goods imported from China. The future of the aviation industry and the role of regional airports like Kent International or how we find a way forward for town centres like Margate which are struggling in the teeth of a hostile economic environment.
"The Liberal Democrats instinctively understand that we need strong, independent local government allied to joint international action if we are to deal with these difficult issues."
