Kent Liberal Democrat Leader Trudy Dean has called for a review of Kent Chief Officers bonus levels after obtaining details of bonus levels for the past three years. Figures provided to Kent's Cabinet Scrutiny Committee showed Chief Officers whose salaries over £120k pa also received bonuses averaging between 10.77-13.87% over the last three years.
The report is available from the Kent County web site at http://tinyurl.com/n9g2am and shows that Chief Executive Peter Gilroy received Performance Relayed Pay bonuses of 15% in 2007-08, 14% in 2006-07 and 15% in 2005-06 totalling over £89,000 across the 3 years.
Bonuses for other Chief Officers were in the range of 5% - 15% in each year over the same period, ranging from £7,330 to £25,110 per officer, per year.
The Liberal Democrat group on Kent County Council form the official opposition to the Conservatives.
On the BBC South East Politics Show Lib Dem Leader Trudy Dean commented that the bonuses "are a very large sum of money to most people and need looking at urgently."
