Homes not gimmicks

6.12.00am GMT Sat 30th Jan 2010

I note the clever smoke and mirrors exercise announced by the Housing Minister this week and supported by The Cabinet Member for Community Services to afford more choice to the people of Thanet when seeking council housing.

£50,000 of public money has been thrown at a scheme essentially to advertise 165 homes available throughout Kent to the 31,000 people on the council waiting list desperate to be housed. Rather than give greater choice it will continue the frustration and disappointment for Thanet residents who are desperate to be housed.

Thanet needs more affordable homes not gimmicks to advertise the few that are available.
